Lucas Fels (*1962)

독일 Lörrach에서 태어난 루카스 펠스는 바젤과 취리히에서 첼로를 처음 배웠고, 프라이부르크에서는 크리스토프 헨켈에게, 암스테르담에서는 안너 비일스마에게, 피에솔레에서는 아마데오 발도비노에게 사사했다.

명망 높은 앙상블 Recherche의 창립 멤버로서 루카스 펠스는 오랫동안 현대실내악 및 앙상블 음악 발전에 적극적으로 참여해 왔으며, 21년간 앙상블 멤버로 활동하면서 수백 곡의 작품을 초연했다.

2006년에는 아르디티 콰르텟에 합류하여 전 세계에서 수많은 작품을 초연했다. 아르디티 콰르텟과 함께한 음반에는 H. 라헨만, P. 뒤사팽, J. 하비, H. 버트위슬, R. 게르하르트, B. 페르니호, B. 카사블랑카스의 현악 사중주 전곡이 포함되어 있다. 또한 그는 Wolfgang Rihm(Styx und Lethe, 1998), Walter Zimmermann(Subrisio Saltat, 2003), Sebastian Claren(After Blinky Palermo 2002), Mathias Spahlinger(Lamento, protokoll 2013) 등의 첼로 협주곡을 초연했다.

루카스 펠스는 여러 음악원에서 정규적으로 가르쳤고 Darmstädter Ferienkurse에서 20년 넘게 강의한 선생으로서 매우 인기가 높다. 2013년부터 그는 프랑크푸르트 국립음대에서  "Interpretatorische Praxis und Vermittlung neue Musik" 교수로 재직하고 있다.

Born in Lörrach (Germany), received his first cello lessons in Basle and Zurich and studied in Freiburg with Christoph Henkel, Amsterdam with Anner Bijlsma and Fiesole with Amadeo Baldovino.

As founding member of the highly renowned Ensemble Recherche, Lucas has long been actively involved in the development of contemporary chamber and ensemble music and has premiered several hundred compositions during his 21 years of membership with that ensemble.

In 2006 he joined the Arditti Quartet, performing countless premieres all over the globe. His discography with the quartet includes the complete string quartets by H. Lachenmann, P. Dusapin, J. Harvey, H. Birtwistle, R. Gerhard, B. Ferneyhough and B. Casablancas. He has premiered the cello concertos by Wolfgang Rihm (Styx und Lethe, 1998), Walter Zimmermann (Subrisio Saltat, 2003), Sebastian Claren (After Blinky Palermo 2002), Mathias Spahlinger (Lamento, protokoll 2013) and others.

Lucas Fels is highly sought-after as a teacher, having taught regularly at various conservatories and lectured at Darmstädter Ferienkurse for over 20 years. Since 2013 he has been Professor for “Interpretatorische Praxis und Vermittlung neue Musik“ at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main.
